No, I don't think you will see Indian cheerleaders any time soon, as India is one of the most racist, caste-based countries on the planet; they would not wish to see their own 'denigrated' to such positions as this is only low enough for non-Indians.

@GodfatherDeejay First of all, cheer leading isint very popular in India..Unlike say in US where it's a big things for girls to aspire for..There are hardly if any proffesional cheerleaders in India..2nddly It would be very hard to find women in india willing to wear such outfits.. finally Ipl is aiming to be a global event with high standards and it is much more easier to get proffesional cheerleaders from abroad than hire some indian dancers and train them to be cheer leaders.

I posted the question on Yahoo question asking why the cheerleaders are not local ladies. I did not get a decent answer either. I am looking for a honest answer and not a racial or demeaning answer. Is there any reason why Indian cheerleaders are not used? Cheerleader or no cheerleader, personally I prefer watching the game more than the cheerleaders.Thumbs up to the good games the IPL produces.
